Omarchy Workflow on macOS
I previously ran Omarchy Mac on my M1 Mac and still use Omarchy on my Linux machine today. After moving to an M4 Mac, though, I also needed macOS for Swift and native Apple development, so I eventually moved away from Omarchy Mac. I still wanted the workflow. Over the last few years, I’ve built a simple macOS setup that gets me surprisingly close to the Omarchy experience without trying to turn macOS into Linux. The core of the setup is: - 10 macOS desktops with dedicated applications - Yabai for automatic window management and placement - Raycast for launching, focusing, and navigating applications - Keyboard shortcuts for moving through everything without reaching for the mouse - My `hyper_yabai` Raycast extension for triggering Yabai commands directly from Raycast In the video, I walk through the setup, show how I move between desktops and applications, and demonstrate how Yabai manages my windows. It is not Omarchy on macOS, but for the way I work, it gets me about 85% of the experience while keeping everything I need from the Mac. I’m also using ZenTerm throughout the video, my terminal app built around a fast, keyboard-first developer workflow. ## Links My GitHub: https://github.com/Drucial hyper_yabai: https://github.com/Drucial/hyper_yabai ZenTerm: https://github.com/praxis-labs-io/zen-term Raycast: https://www.raycast.com Yabai: https://github.com/koekeishiya/yabai #omarchy #macos #yabai #raycast #developerworkflow #productivity
